About Katie

Hello I am Katie (Katherine) Westwood, founder of KP Nutrition & Specialist Gastroenterology Dietitian with over 10 years of experience  as a registered Dietitian.

Since my early teenage years I wanted to pursue a career as a Dietitian. My Grandad needed dialysis for the treatment of kidney disease and whilst receiving his treatment, he was referred to a Dietitian to discuss advice to help manage his renal disease through diet. The realisation that I could combine my love of food, science & working with people led me down this career path.

Fairly quickly in my career, I realised I was passionate about Gastroenterology, due to diet being so integral to many Gastrointestinal conditions & Dietitians being such a key part of the Gastro multidisciplinary team; I knew that I could make a real difference
 to peoples' lives.

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition & Dietetics in 2014 from the University of Surrey. I have worked in several NHS trusts in the South East of England, including as a Senior Specialist Gastroenterology Dietitian at Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and I currently work part time as a Lead Gastroenterology Dietitian at Ashford & St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust.

In addition to my NHS work and KP Nutrition's clinic, I have also worked with Field Doctor & The IBS Network offering 1:1 appointments for their clients, written articles for British Dietetic Association, CN Magazine & The Nursing Times, have a Distinction in the Certificate in Culinary Skill from City & Guilds, presented a webinar on the management of IBS to Dietitians in the MENA region & an overview of liver disease & diet to members of The British Liver Trust and I am one of King's College London's FODMAP trained dietitians

About Katherine

Hello I am Katherine Meek, Specialist Gastroenterology & Surgical Dietitian.

Studying the complexities of the human body & brain during my undergraduate degree in Anatomy, Developmental & Human Biology BSc (KCL, 2017) confirmed to me that I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare and help people optimise their health & wellbeing. Nutrition & Dietetics was the natural choice - bringing together my love for food, psychology, people and the human body! I completed a MSc in Human Nutrition at Kings College London in 2018 and  my Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics in 2021.

I have worked in several NHS trusts providing me with a broad range of experiences which led me to my specialist interest in gastroenterology, gastrointestinal surgery & complex nutrition support. I have worked in specialist gastroenterology roles across three NHS trusts, including my current role as a Specialist Gastroenterology & Surgical Dietitian at Ashford & St Peter's NHS Trust.

I have completed the Advanced Dietary Management and the Low FODMAP Diet in IBS course (Kings College London) in 2023, the Advanced Clinical update course in Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (2025), contributed to several nutritional articles for NHD magazine & delivered webinars for the British Liver Trust and mast cell activation syndrome.
